Develop a Sustainable Community Complex
The Dream Bridge Project will help buy and develop land in the Cu-Chi District of Vietnam (northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, near the Saigon River). The Project will be staffed and managed by the YMCA of Vietnam for the benefit of Vietnamese youth suffering from birth defects caused by Agent Orange.
In keeping with the three concentrations of the YMCA - body, mind and spirit - the project will include 3 aspects:
* Community Center - mind and spirit
* Music Restaurant - spirit and body
* Massage Therapy Clinic - body and mind
The Community Center will include a multi-purpose common space and a library/study for the use of the community and visitors. Community Space programming will include meetings, films, live performances and classes.
The Music Restaurant will serve simple traditional Vietnamese fare and drinks. It will provide vocational training and income for those youth with disabilities who are able to work.
Integral to the restaurant is the musical performance space, where young Vietnamese artists - as well as visiting musicians from across the globe - will provide a steady stream of entertainment for restaurant patrons.
The Massage Clinic will be staffed by disabled youth who have studied theraputic massage, and can offer inexpensive care for interested visitors.
Only an hour from the Vietnamese Capital and situated near the Cu-Chi Tunnels - a national historic landmark and popular tourist destination - the Complex will be a compelling stop for many international travellers visiting the area.
